Re – Connected
Talking about the effects of the pandemic is superfluous, since over-information has made it clear that reality has changed and the world has been forced to change. In the vertiginous process of trying to understand the accumulation of limitations, restrictions and ups and downs that this situation has brought about, two positions are present; the first is to remain still, to wait and trust that everything will be restored, that everything will return to normal, that a definitive cure will be invented and to wait from the security of cloistered life to see how the world evolves.
The second position is to keep moving (albeit in smaller spaces). To take advantage of the circumstances and pull the strings of activity from the keyboard, the screen, a cell phone or any other device that reconnects us with the restless society in need of learning and communicating to share any message or teaching that returns us usefulness and growth.
One of the most exploited strategies to keep us moving and reconnect us with the environment is virtual education. Thousands and millions of children, young people and adults have taken to voluntary and necessary confinement their schools, offices, social life.
Until a few months ago, considering instruction or education through digital media was not a popular strategy. The closeness between people, being able to read the non-verbal message and exchange ideas and opinions was non-negotiable unless it was strictly necessary. Not so now.
Distance education has come a long way from its first appearance to the present day. Not always well recognized and almost always poorly evaluated from the perspective of traditional face-to-face education, distance education in its virtual phase has achieved its own space for development and acceptance. The adoption and creative use of advances in the different means of communication for educational purposes, and for the transmission and reception of information, has placed this educational modality at the forefront with respect to traditional models. The use of the Internet network and the advances in it and from it make it clear that distance education will have an increasingly relevant role in global society, revolutionizing the schemes of human learning through its operation in interactive and three-dimensional worlds (virtual and augmented reality), which will generate a new way of approaching human learning and understanding the school.
